Change of Course for Road Race

Road Race Update - Friday 4th May 2012

Unfortunately it's not been possible to resolve the problems with the road works in Dormansland. A large section of Dormans High Str is being dug up to replace the gas mains, and about 150m of the road has three way controlled traffic lights on it. We've been in consultation with the local contractors and the police, but sadly it's just not safe to race on.

As the Bec don't want to cancel the event, we're moving the race from the Lingfield Circuit to the nearby Ladies Mile Circuit. While only a 4 mile circuit there's enough climbing to test the field. All being well we will race the 10 mile link from Edenbridge to Ladies Mile, then complete 16 laps of the undulating circuit.

Race HQ Remains Unchanged: Rickards Hall High Street Edenbridge Kent TN8 5AR map  Please park in one of the Edenbridge town centre car parks, and walk / cyle through to the HQ which is next to Ye Olde Crown on the high street.

Timings - Marshal / Convoy Brief 10:30, Rider Brief 10:55, Race Starts 11:00

Race Distance -  Approx - 10 miles, + (16 x 4 mile laps) - 74 Miles.

Course - The race will be deneutralised just outside Edenbridge, then we will race along Mill Hill, and Hartfield Road, then left in Hartfield and onto the circuit. This is around 10 mile and has a number of climbs in it. The Ladies Mile Circuit has a 1 mile long fast decent, followed by a 1.5 mile climb back up. The roads are wide and of fairly good surfaces, although the three corners are all sharp. Here's the Strava and Mapmyride stats if you want to check the circuit out.

The finish is on Withyham Road, where the lap board will be. The last 500m is straight with approx 1-2% incline.
