Change of Circuit and HQ for Road Race

Bec Open Road Race - Latest Update Thursday 9th May

Once again the club road race has fallen foul of road works and pot holes. It seems this year that many of the regions courses have been affected by poor tarmac and the Lingfield course is no exception. The road between Marsh Green and the Plough is heavily damaged and in the last couple of weeks East Surrey water board have decided to dig up a major section of Hartfield Road, making the course unusable.

Last year we were forced to move onto the Ladies Mile Circuit, and with no other options available to us we're back there again this year. Thankfully we've been able to move the HQ to the Groombridge Village Hall which is just 1 mile off the corner of the circuit.

The Ladies Mile Circuit is only 4 miles around but has a 1.3 mile gradual climb which rises by around 250ft. In addition there's another short sharp climb at bottom of the circuit. To make the race more exciting there will be primes on the 5th, 10th and 15th laps. After the bell lap riders will return to the lap board (situated on the corner of ladies mile) then turn right and begin a 2.2 mile climb up into the Ashdown Forest to the finish line.

Entry is now closed although there will be some places available for EOL tomorrow morning. Every year we have 5 - 10 riders that get in on the day by just turning up at the HQ and registering before getting a place confirmed at 10:40.
